this was done before the actual mask making and forgot to upload it all. in preparation for our three day mask workshop with julia, we went down to the plaster room to do some face casting. we used a product called algenate. which is commonly used in dentistry for taking casts of teeth. the cast volunteers had the algenate applied to the face, it has a setting time of approx 4 mins, so you have to work pretty quickly, but taking care to get it right into every line, and every crevice. we then applied strips of wet mod roc. to stabelise the algenate. once that was dry you could take it off the faceto reveal a negative cast. we needed a positive cast, so filled the negative with plaster to make a positive one.
